Let’s be honest. Women in the food industry and retail sector have been playing by the rules for decades—working harder, speaking softer, picking our battles, and waiting patiently for recognition.
And where has it got us?
👎 Still fighting for a seat at the table.
👎 Still being talked over in meetings.
👎 Still earning less than our male counterparts.
👎 Still being told to be “assertive” (but not too much, because then we’re “too aggressive”).
It’s exhausting. And frankly, I’m done with it.
The Problem Isn’t a “Confidence Issue.”
I’ve watched a £6 million factory deal get sealed with just a handshake on a golf course—where most women in food leadership never get to set foot. The old boys’ club decided everything. And when that handshake agreement inevitably fell through, guess who was called in to clean up the mess when the factory had to close?
This isn’t an isolated incident. It’s how the food industry operates—decisions made in male-dominated spaces where women aren’t welcome, and then we’re expected to manage the consequences without ever having had a say.
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard women in the food industry say:
- 👉 “I just need to be more confident.”
- 👉 “I should put myself forward more.”
- 👉 “I need to get better at networking.”
- You don’t.
The problem isn’t that women lack confidence—it’s that the system is set up to make us doubt ourselves. We’re told to “lean in,” while men are just pulled up. We’re told to “find a mentor,” while male colleagues just get sponsored into bigger roles. We’re invited to women’s leadership programs that teach us how to fit into a system that wasn’t designed for us.
I don’t want to teach women in food leadership how to play the game better. I want to change the game completely.
That’s Why We Created Fearless Women Connect
- 🚫 Not another corporate women’s network.
- 🚫 Not another place to trade business cards.
- 🚫 Not another space where we’re told to “be more confident” without tackling the real barriers.
This is a community for women who are DONE waiting for change and are ready to make it happen together.
A space where:
- ✔️ There’s no hierarchy. Your job title doesn’t matter—who you are does.
- ✔️ We talk about the real challenges of being a woman in the food sector—without pretending everything is fine.
- ✔️ Women in food & retail actually support each other, instead of competing for the same tiny slice of the pie.
We’re not here to network—we’re here to shift the food industry for good.
